Shabby Chic

An overall “gently worn” feel and soft colors are a hallmark of the shabby chic style. Edges of papers or elements might be slightly scuffed or worn. Often the preference is given to paper with floral motif, toiles and damasks. Among embellishments there could be featured florals, pearls, glitter, small jewelry with a light patina, slightly yellowed laces. Embellishment choices can lean toward bits of textiles, ribbons, stitching and found items that lend to the slightly shabby look of the layout. Shabby chic can be used with any page style.

Paper Style

Digital scrapbooking developed from the imitation of traditional paper scrapbooking. Here embellishments look like something that could be glued, sewed or written on paper. Most elements are paper, but could also be buttons, brads, stickers and fabrics.

Whimsical

Whimsical elements are items that are playful and fun. These embellishments are not realistic and can be made to look like paper or cartoons. Often, whimsical elements are used in fantasy style layouts but they can be used in any design style.

Grunge / Urban

The grunge style is edgy and messy. Graffiti elements fit perfectly with this look. Textures will often include cement, rock or dirt. Embellishments can be modern or old and worn.

Retro

Fashion and design of 50s, 60s, and 70s inspires the Retro style. Polka-dot and checks, large flowers, Polaroid photos, retro ephemera, scraps from fashion magazines, advertising booklets, posters, labels of foodstuffs and household items – all these are Retro attributes.

Vintage

This style includes antique or fake-antique elements, worn papers, old letters and torn lace. It is possible to scan your own keepsake items to add a personal touch to the layout. Colors are usually soft and muted like old wallpaper.

Modern Vintage

Modern Vintage is similar to vintage but with some modern touches like bright colors or unexpected elements and recent photographs.

Natural / Realistic

Elements are copies of the real thing--flowers, leaves, frames, ribbons. Using these types of elements usually result in a page that looks 3-D. Sometimes embellishments have a worn, vintage look, but they can also be fresh and new.

Watercolor / Painted / Stamped

This style is made of hand-drawn or painted embellishments and papers. These are often used in blended designs but they can also be  used in any style design.
